Hundreds of competitors, ranging from Age 4 to Age 60, came to Greenwich to compete in the SDSS Connecticut State Tournament. Students from Greenwich, Wilton, Ridgefield, Newtown, Fairfield, Darien, and Westport competed earlier this spring to earn a place at the state event. Students competed in hand forms, sparring, defensive techniques, weapons forms, and sword sparring. On Sunday, March 19th, Master Meyer presented a seminar on the kama. The kama is a weapon that started out as a farming implement in Asia. It was used to cut crops like rice and is similar to a sickle.

This past weekend the CT studios held their annual SDSS States Tournament. Everyone worked hard and gave it their all. As you can see from these pictures, the competition was tough!
Senior Master Meyer made a guest appearance on Wednesday June 8, 2016 at SDSS of Fairfield. He surprised the teens with a special class. He went over Shaolin Discipline with them and went over their material. They kicked, punched and “push-up”ed their way through class.
Students from Darien, Westport, Fairfield and Greenwich came together for the annual Connecticut Southern Regional Tournament! Sparring, Defense Techniques, Forms, Weapons all highlighted this day-long celebration of the Martial Arts at the Norwalk Double Tree.
