Martial Arts for Teens

Teen classes provide a high-energy and fun experience in the environment teens like best – learning with their peers. Teens want to be treated like adults without the adult responsibility. We work to prepare them mentally and physically for the adult world, while training them as martial artists with great respect and self control.

This high-energy class is taught in a similar manner to the adult class, but with very little down time, and lots of peer interaction. Students enjoy a strong cardio workout, self-defense training, and our life skills and anti-bullying program are woven into the class activities.

Teens who study Kung Fu gain an edge in high school, and are better prepared for the college years. Martial artists have to be goal-centered and self-disciplined to make black belt. It takes years of dedication, respect, and perseverance. They learn to make better choices along the way, and discover how those choices can lead to positive outcomes today and well into the future.

In an era when high schoolers are too often granted social promotion, your teen will become steeped in a growth mindset that keeps them reaching for goal after goal. It takes weeks of dedication just to earn the right to test for the next belt level. When those same kids move from high school to college, they’ll understand the meaning of words like “perseverance.” They understand that it is normal – and even desirable – for the standards and goals to be raised each and every year.

Every parent wants their teenage child to understand and realize their enormous potential. That takes the grit, determination, and self-confidence they discover on their SDSS journey. Contact your local studio today, try a free lesson, and find out just how SDSS can change a life.

My son began with Chris when he was around 7 years old and still trains when home from college. He even achieved his First Degree Adult black belt before he graduated high school. Love SDSS, their entire staff and how they have lead my son to accomplish his goals. He has learned motivation, self-dicipline, courage and strength during his traing at SDSS… hands-down the best martial arts training!Stephanie Ann B. - SDSS of Newtown parent
