At SDSS of Ridgefield, we ran a self defense awareness class for a 12-13 year old girl scout troop from South Salem, NY. 1 in 3 women will someday have to deal with some sort of personal assault, and it is never too early to teach young women to be strong, confident, and safe.
The main point of the workshop was how important it is to be aware of their surroundings and any threats to their safety. We taught them some basic hand strikes, kicks, and blocks. I also showed them some self defense techniques.
As you can see, these kids are having a blast. Know a group of young people who could benefit from this type of class? Ask your local instructor for details.
